The ministerial-level visit to Seoul that took place on 20-24 April 2026 marked an important step forward in the development of energy cooperation between Estonia and the Republic of Korea. The visit brought together representatives of Estonia’s public and private sectors, as well as leading Korean companies and institutions, to discuss opportunities for cooperation in clean energy, innovation, and industrial partnerships.
The visit was prepared in close cooperation between Enterprise Estonia (EIS), the Ministry of Climate of Estonia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, and the Embassy of Estonia in Seoul. The Estonian delegation was led by Minister Andres Sutt and included representatives of the Ministry of Climate as well as a business delegation of Estonian companies.
The programme was substantial and diverse. It included a number of bilateral meetings with Korean institutions and companies, a business roundtable, a media roundtable, the Green Innovation Estonia Forum organised by Money Today Network (MTN), as well as numerous business-to-business meetings.
It was especially encouraging to see the strong participation of Estonian companies. The delegation to Seoul included Eesti Energia, UP Catalyst, Newin, Kanepi Energia, MateriaSorter, and Skeleton Technologies. On the Korean side, participants included Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), Samsung SDI, Hanwha Ocean, SK Innovation E&S, POSCO International, HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, and Doosan, among others.
One of the highlights of the visit was the announcement of a partnership between UP Catalyst and SGC Energy, underscoring the growing visibility and credibility of Estonian companies in the Korean market.
Across the meetings, it became clear that Estonia has valuable expertise, innovative solutions, and strong partners to offer. The visit helped elevate Estonia–Korea energy cooperation to a new level and created a solid foundation for further joint initiatives.
The Embassy of Estonia in Seoul would like to thank all partners and companies who contributed to the success of the visit. We will continue working to support closer Estonia–Korea cooperation and to create new opportunities for Estonian companies in the Korean market.
